CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a modality that helps the body to activate the body's own healing process by a gentle touch by a skilled hand. Palpatations are used by a skilled therapist to read the body's signals and perceive where underlying restrictions may be inhibiting proper functioning of the body anywhere in the cranial sacral system, the membranes, and/or the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain as well as the spinal cord. The treatment taps into the body's amazing ability to heal itself. CST works through the craniosacral system by getting the body back into free movement. With a gentle touch, usually no more than the weight of a nickel, skilled practitioners monitor the rhythm of the system at key points throughout the body to pinpoint the source of an obstruction, energy cyst, subluxation, nerve blockage, or stress. After determining the source of the restriction, a skilled practitioner can get the body to eliminate the barrier and help bring itself back to optimum performance levels. Three ways in with results can be observed by the recipient of CST are as follows:
Some specific conditions people have noticed improvement are as follows: Migrane Headaches ScoliosisTraumatic Brain & Spinal Cord Injuries Neurovascular Disorders or Immune Disorders Emotional Difficulties Colic Motor-Coordination Impairments Infantile Disorders Tension & Stress-Related Problem Post-traumatic Stress DisordersDisorders of the Central Nervous System AutismLearning Disabilities (TMJ) Temporalmandibular Joint Dysfunction Orthopedic Problems Post-Surgical DysfunctionChronic Fatigue Chronic Neck & Back Pain Motor-Co-ordination Impairments Fibromyalgia & other Connective-Tissue Disorders
What can cranial subluxations cause? Subluxations of the cranial bones can cause a multiplicity of problems throughout the body/mind, affecting the proper functioning of the brain, specific brain centers, the brain stem, cranial nerves, cervical ganglia, venous and arterial blood flow, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow and other aspects of our physiology. A partial list of problems caused by cranial subluxations includes:
"People have many layers. After the correction of what the body is showing at the time, older injuries, older distortions, older subluxations and older symptoms (both physical and emotional) may surface to release. The release and healing of old injuries is known as "retracing" and is usually part of the healing process. On occasion patients have reported "cleansing" symptoms such as diarrhea, pus, mucus, headache, fever, etc. as toxins leave the body. These symptoms are usually temporary. It is helpful to be told if unusual symptoms arise. These symptoms may take the form of emotional releases: old memories coming up or unusual dreams. Sometimes an area is so weak and the distortion so extensive that a segment put in place may not stay in position and may need correcting again."
